Four teenager boys have been arrested in connection with the investigation into an unprovoked attack on two men in Wimbledon Village.
The two victims – both aged in their 20s – were randomly attacked by an unknown group in High Street Mews, Wimbledon Village at 2.25am on 8 March. One victim remains in hospital with a serious head injury. The other has since been discharged.
Officers from the local CID are investigating and have arrested four male youths in connection with their inquiries.
Two 16-year-old arrested and two 15-year-old arrested have been arrested.
All were arrested on suspicion of GBH with intent and taken into police custody before being bailed to return pending further inquiries. They are due to return on a date in early May. one of the teenagers was further arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery.
Acting Detective Sergeant Simon Monga said: “The victims were subjected to a frightening ordeal in a completely unprovoked attack while they were walking home. They were punched and kicked to the floor and assaulted further.
“Nothing was stolen from them and we believe this could have been a case of mistaken identity.
“One of the victims remains in hospital and will do so for many weeks.”
