Appeal launched after seriously ill dog found

An appeal has been launched after a severely-ill dog was found locked in an allotment site.

A member of the public contacted Adur & Worthing Councils after finding the animal at Hillview in Old Shoreham Road, Southwick last week (Wednesday, May 29, 2019).

The elderly female Australian Shepherd was too weak to stand, had a large exposed wound on her left chest and was caught in netting.

The Councils’ Dog Warden Service immediately responded and took her to a vets as an emergency, where she was diagnosed as having an advanced untreated cancer.

Being in severe pain and with no treatment being possible the dog unfortunately had to be put to sleep.

The tri-coloured animal had no microchip so the Councils have so far been unable to contact the owner.

Anyone who can help trace the owner is asked to contact the dog wardens confidentially on 01903 221064 or,

Residents can also contact the Councils via the website –
