Three men arrested and murder probe launched after hammer attack man dies in Stoke

Detectives from Staffordshire Police are investigating the death of a man in Stoke-on-Trent.

Police were called to Wood Street, Longton, at 2.25pm this afternoon (15 May) following reports of a man armed with a hammer.

On arrival a man had been detained. He was taken to Royal Stoke University Hospital where he was sadly pronounced deceased.

Three men from Stoke-on-Trent have been arrested in connection with the incident and remain in custody.

Enquires are on-going, and we are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with any information to call 101 quoting incident number 395 of 15 May.

The matter has also been referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct.
