A supermarket chain is offering a discount to frontline workers for their “tireless” efforts during the pandemic.
The Morrisons’ markdown of 10% has been made available to those in the emergency services, armed forces and social care.
All shoppers need to do is present their Blue Light Card to receive the reduction in stores nationwide.
The move follows on from a 10% discount offered by Morrisons to NHS and school staff across the country.
The discount, which is valid until after Christmas, is considered a “thank you” to the many who have gone above and beyond their usual roles in 2020.
David Potts, Morrisons chief executive, said: “Our emergency services, social care sector and armed forces have worked tirelessly this year to provide support to the many people who need it across the UK, often in exceptionally difficult circumstances.
“This discount is a thank you for all that they have done and continue to do for us all.”
The Blue Light Card is a recognised national scheme, which provides holders with a range of discounts from large national retailers to local businesses.
The card holders can also participate in a dedicated shopping hour alongside NHS and school staff from 6am to 7am, Monday to Saturday, before Morrisons opens to other customers.
Tom Dalby, CEO of Blue Light Card, said: “We are thrilled to partner with Morrisons in saying thank you to those who have been working on the front line during these difficult few months.”
Card holders can claim the 10% discount on their groceries by presenting their Blue Light ID card at the till in any of Morrisons stores.
