The Royal Berkshire Fire & Rescue Service held a memorial service at Reading Minister to mark the 10th anniversary of 9/11 and the 34th anniversary of the deaths of two Reading firefighters who both died in a blaze in a builder’s yard in Elgar Road on September 15, 1977

Fireman David Barnes, Station 1 Caversham Road Reading and Fireman Neil Goldsmith, Station 2 Wokingham Road Reading both from Royal Berkshire Fire Brigade died whilst they attended  the incident on  Elgar Road in Reading. During the incident he pair were killed after the building collapsed.
