Witnesses sought following incident of criminal damage in Sandhurst

The Police are appealing for witnesses following an incident in Sandhurst.

At around 9am on Wednesday (26/8) a man was driving a blue Ford Focus on Swan Lane, Sandhurst.

A white Ford Transit van pulled out in front of him, forcing the driver of the Focus to brake and sound his horn.

The van then slowed to a stop. A man, thought to be a passenger in the van, then got out and struck the victim’s windscreen with an axe. The victim then drove off onto Yorktown Road. He was held up at a red light at Rackstraws crossroads. The passenger of the van then struck the driver’s side window with a club hammer.

The victim, a man in his thirties, then drove off. He was not injured during the incident.

Investigating officer, PC Matthew Gordon based at Lodden Valley police station, said: “We are appealing for witnesses to this incident.

“We have made an arrest but we are asking anyone with information about this incident or anyone that may have dash-cam footage of the incident to please get in touch.

A 33-year-old man from Fleet, Hampshire has been arrested in connection with the incident. He has been released under investigation whilst enquiries are ongoing.
