Road rage man told to expect Life sentence following unanimous find of guilt

Following an investigation by Thames Valley Police, a man has been convicted of murder.

Following a trial which concluded today (11 February), Liam Turner, aged 28, of Spencer Road, Reading was found guilty by unanimous jury of one count of murder following a trial at Reading Crown Court.

The conviction relates to an incident in which Turner assaulted a man causing him catastrophic injuries.

At around 2.40am on Tuesday 10 April 2018 Miroslaw Januszkiewicz (known as Mirek), aged 42, and was walking along the A329 London Road, Bracknell when Turner approached him in his car.

A verbal exchange took place between the two men and the victim continued to walk. He was followed by Turner, who eventually got out of his vehicle. He then viciously assaulted the man causing him head injuries.

Mr Januszkiewicz, of Bracknell, was discovered in London Road near to the BP garage and was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital where he sadly died the following day.

A post mortem revealed he died of head injuries.

Turner was arrested on Wednesday 11 April 2018 on suspicion of attempted murder. He was further arrested on suspicion of murder on the same day following the death of Mr Januszkiewicz.

Turner was charged on 13 April 2018 with one count of murder.

He will be sentenced tomorrow (12/2) at Reading Crown Court.

Senior investigating officer, Detective Chief Inspector Andy Howard, said: “This was a shocking case in which Mr Januszkiewicz was viciously attacked.

“He did not know his attacker, had never met him before and was just trying to go about his business.

“Turner approached his victim engaged him in conversation, followed him in his car, and then carried out a prolonged attack on Mirek, before driving off and leaving him for dead.

“Mirek’s family have heard in court graphic details of this completely random, unprovoked and needless killing.

“I would like to thank them for their patience and support during our investigation and our thoughts are with them at this difficult time.”
