39 people arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after Stabbing in Hammersmith

Detectives are investigating following a stabbing in a west London street.
Police was called to Fulham Palace Road in Hammersmith and Fulham, shortly before 01:00hrs on Monday, 31 December, to reports of a stabbing.
Officers and the London Ambulance Service attended.
A man, believed to be in his mid-30s, was found with stab injuries. He was treated at the scene by officers and paramedics before being taken to hospital where he remains in a critical but stable condition.
It was established that the victim had been chased by a number of male and female suspects following an altercation in a shop.
The suspects were seen a short time later entering a nearby residential address which was hosting a party.
Additional officers, including the Territorial Support Group, attended this address and attempted to speak with a large number of people who were inside. As the occupants failed to co-operate with police, a total of 39 people were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
They have all been taken into custody at various police stations.
Superintendent Mark Lawrence, said: “What appears to have been a minor argument has resulted in a man sustaining life-threatening injuries.
“Officers were quickly on the scene and provided him with first aid prior to the arrival of our colleagues in the LAS. He has been taken to hospital where he continues to receive treatment for his injuries.
“Whilst it is unusual for so many people to be arrested in the early stages of an investigation such as this, due to a lack of co-operation and the necessity of securing essential evidence following a serious assault, this action was appropriate.”
Two knives were recovered close to the scene. Enquiries continue.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police via 101 quoting reference 302/31Dec. Alternatively, they can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
