A murder investigation has been launched after a man who was found with stab wounds in south London died of his injuries.
Police were called on Saturday, 25 August at around 11.45pm to a report of a man found unresponsive in Creek Road junction with Deptford Church Street, SE8.
Officers and the London Ambulance Service (LAS) attended and established that the male, believed to be aged 22, had suffered stab injuries.
They immediately began CPR before he was taken by LAS to a south London hospital. He was sadly pronounced dead at 00:40hrs.
His family have been informed.
Formal identification awaits and a post mortem examination will take place in due course.
No arrests have been made at this early stage in the investigation.
The Homicide and Major Crime Command are leading the investigation.
Detective Inspector Mark Long is leading. He said: “Sadly last night another young life was senselessly lost due to violence. The victim’s family are beside themselves with grief and we are working hard to trace those responsible.
“I know members of the public saw police officers and LAS giving aid to the victim at the scene. The people I want to hear from are those who may have seen an altercation between two males or a group of males beforehand but may not have realised what had happened.
“Think carefully; were you in area around this time? Did you see anyone running from the scene or anyone who looked panicked? I would urge you to contact us with what you know as quickly as possible.”
Anyone with information should contact police on 101 quoting CAD 7831/25 August. To remain anonymous call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
