Detectives investigating the murder of a 66-year-old man, who died on Saturday, 18 August in Catford have made an arrest.
Police were called on Saturday, 18 August at 4pm to a report of a stabbing at a multi-occupancy address in Ringstead Road, SE6.
Officers attended along with the London Ambulance Service and found a man suffering from stab injuries.
The man, was taken to a south London hospital where he died a short while later at 5.30pm
A post mortem took place on Sunday, 19 August at Greenwich Mortuary and gave the cause of death as stab wounds to the neck and chest.
On the evening of Sunday, 19 August, officers arrested a 29-year-old female in Basildon on suspicion of murder. She has been transported to a north London police station where she remains in custody.
His next of kin have been informed.
Whilst we await formal ID, detectives are confident that the deceased is 66-year-old Leroy Junior Edwards, from Lewisham.
The Homicide and Major Crime Command are leading the investigation and are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information to call police.
DCI Simon Pickford, who is leading the investigation, said: “Although we have made one arrest already in connection to this murder, we are still keen to hear from anyone who was in the area that may have heard or seen anything.
“No matter how insignificant you think the information might be, it is all useful to our investigation.”
