Holyport Village on Lockdown as Fire Rips Fields

Ten fire appliances from Three Brigades and Fifty firefighters continue to battle a fire that has ripped through fields at Lodge Farm in Holyport this afternoon. The village of Holyport is on lock by after Police closed the road to assist with fire fighting operations. Hoplyport school have closed early after safe fears that the fire may spread

A number of Fire crews from Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service are currently responding to a large field fire in Stompits Road, Maidenhead. Neighbouring Bridges have also been called in to support the service. Crews from Bucks and Oxford Fire and Rescue have also sent a number of resources. A spokesman for RBFRS said : Firefighters are likely to be at the incident for a significant amount of time

Police are advising the public to Please avoid the area as the fire is on a large scale and spreading. A hard road closure is in place and drivers are asked to respect this. Vehicles have also been stopped from accessing the road and driver are being advised to seek alternative routes.
The advice from the fire service is any properties that are being affected by smoke should close their windows.
Ascot Road towards Holyport near the M4 Motorway Junction 8 and Junction 9 has been closed as the fire spreads.
